TUGAS BAHASA INGGRIS BISNIS 2 # : SUBJECT VERB AGREEMENT


    1.      Subject Verb Agreement Definition :
The agreement which has a rule where the subject and verb should be consistent based on the number. In other words, using this agreement means put a singular subject with a singular verb or a plural subject with a plural verb in a sentence. For a sentence which has pronouns, such as “either”, neither” and followed by “or” and “nor”, this agreement may use a singular verb or a plural verb depending on the noun that following “or” and “nor”.
This agreement use a singular verb for a sentence with pronouns, such as “each”, “everyone”, “every one”, “everybody”, “anyone”, “anybody”, “someone”, “somebody”, also with expressions, such as “together with”, “accompanied by”, “along with”, and “as well as”. When “and” conjunction is used for connecting two subjects in a sentence, then use a plural verb.

     Examples :
a.      The diver in the ocean has been diving for an hour

b.      The children in the living room are playing games

c.       Either Ella or her friends are going to the mall today
                       plural noun    plural verb

d.      Neither my mother nor my sister     has a piano

e.      Sissy or Gio         is coming to your restaurant

f.        Someone is going to help him out from the room
   pronoun     singular verb

g.      Mia, accompanied by her friend, has arrived in Jakarta
 singular subject                                       singular verb

h.      Averie and her brother are feeding their cat
       plural subject                    plural verb

   2.      Choose the correct form of the verb in parentheses in the following sentences.
